Time is the piece that closes the soundtrack of Inception, Christopher Nolan's film released in 2010: Hans Zimmer wrote it for the film's final minutes, when the hero is at last reunited with his children. The film's score was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Score, and Time soon took on a life of its own, covered by countless pianists and used in trailers and videos all over the world, until it became one of the most awaited moments of Zimmer's concerts. The piece turns around the same chord sequence, which returns again and again while the music thickens and slowly rises, before settling back into calm: a slow climb that sounds on the accordion like one long breath. A piece to play when the house has gone quiet and you have all the time in the world.
