The accordion is a magical instrument: thanks to its bellows, it can wonderfully approach the sound intentions of the violin, bagpipes, or Celtic instruments in general. And among all traditional pieces, The Skye Boat Song, the famous main theme from the series Outlander, is particularly well suited to the accordion.
This Scottish song has a spacious, energetic, yet slow melody. It’s an ideal piece to work on bellows control and enjoy beautiful musical phrases full of emotion, even as a beginner.

It is obviously possible to play only the right hand.
- The double notes in the right hand are not necessarily essential; it is possible to play only the highest note when there are several at the same time.
- The bass notes can also be simplified if necessary. It is not mandatory to hold them as long as written, and you can stick to the fundamental bass notes (the lowest ones).
